Thousands of WASPI Women in Yeovil betrayed by Government’s decision
Adam Dance, MP for Yeovil, has vowed to fight for the thousands of WASPI women in Yeovil and South Somerset following the Government’s decision not to compensate those impacted by changes to the state pension age.
New figures from the House of Commons Library reveal that an estimated 6,600 women in Yeovil alone could be affected by this deeply unjust decision. Despite supporting campaigners in opposition, the Government has now chosen to ignore the Ombudsman’s recommendations for compensation, a move Adam Dance has called “a betrayal.”
Adam Dance said:
“The Government’s decision is shameful. WASPI women—millions of pension-age women—have been let down yet again.
“These women were wronged through no fault of their own, and the Government is now asking them to pay the price for economic mismanagement. That is not fair, and it is not right.
“In Yeovil and South Somerset alone, 6,600 women could be impacted by this disgraceful decision. The Government must urgently rethink this and do the right thing. These women deserve justice, and I will stand with them every step of the way to ensure their voices are heard.”
The Liberal Democrats have long campaigned for fair compensation for WASPI women and will continue to push the Government to address this shameful injustice.
