Adam Dance, MP for Yeovil, has called the Lord Darzi report into the state of the NHS a "wake-up call" for the government to urgently address the health and care crisis affecting local services in the Yeovil constituency.

The report has revealed that the NHS is in a ‘critical condition,’ with the service missing every major target for A&E, cancer, and hospital treatment waiting times since 2015.

Adam Dance MP stressed the urgent need for the government to invest in Yeovil's local health services, as accessing care remains one of the biggest challenges facing residents.

“The findings of this report are alarming and must serve as a wake-up call for the government to rescue our NHS and social care services, especially here in Yeovil," said Dance.

In response to the report, the Liberal Democrats are calling on the government to prioritize fixing the NHS by recruiting more GPs, investing in crumbling hospitals, and engaging in cross-party talks to tackle the ongoing crisis in social care.

Adam Dance MP continued:
“This report highlights the struggles I’ve heard firsthand from people across Yeovil—whether it's waiting weeks or months for vital treatments, or being unable to get an appointment with a GP or NHS dentist. These delays are having a devastating impact on individuals and families.

"During the election campaign, I pledged to put the health and care crisis front and centre, and I remain fully committed to that promise in Parliament. The new government’s top priority must be fixing the NHS so that people can finally get the care they deserve.

"I will continue fighting for more GPs, urgent investment to repair our crumbling hospitals, and more NHS dentists to improve healthcare for everyone in our community."
